BetterFHR is a free tool that helps Amex Platinum cardholders find the best value for their $300 semiannual hotel credit across 2,500+ Fine Hotels & Resorts (FHR) and Hotel Collection (THC) properties worldwide.

Why We Built This

The Amex Platinum card gives you up to $600/year in hotel credits ($300 per half-year), but finding where to use them is painful. The Amex Travel portal is clunky. Other tools paywall basic features like date filtering. We built BetterFHR to fix that — everything is free.

How the Credit Works

$300 Semiannual Hotel Credit

  • Jan–Jun: up to $300 back
  • Jul–Dec: up to $300 back
  • Statement credit after booking
  • Use it or lose it — doesn't roll over

Experience Credit (on-property)

  • FHR: $100 to spend at the hotel
  • THC: $50 on stays of 2+ nights
  • Applied at checkout (dining, spa, bar)
  • Once per reservation

Programs Covered

Fine Hotels & Resorts (FHR)

Premium properties with room upgrades, daily breakfast for two, $100 experience credit, guaranteed 4pm late checkout, and early check-in when available. No minimum night requirement.

The Hotel Collection (THC)

A broader selection of hotels with a $50 experience credit on stays of 2+ nights. Late checkout when available. Generally more affordable than FHR properties.
